"To Bill: Leaving Cerulean City" is also played during Professor Oak's speech at the start of a new game.

The gates play the same music as in the Generation I games.

Music changes from Generation I games:

  • The Trade Center and Colosseum now play Pokémon Center instead of the Celadon City Theme
  • The Badge man's house (Cerulean City) now plays the Cerulean City Theme instead of the Pewter City Theme
  • The Power Plant now plays Pokémon Mansion instead of Rocket Hideout
  • The Indigo Plateau lobby now plays Pokémon Gym instead of The Final Road
  • The Hall of Fame room now plays the Pallet Town Theme instead of the Pewter City Theme (it is a slow version of the music theme in both cases)
  • The Sevii Islands were introduced, reusing some music themes introduced in earlier games
