Talk:Viridian Gym
Really an Oversight?
We do have an Magma Admin named Tabitha...--Purimpopoie 04:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. They've done worse things with names before. I had a big cleanup of the trivia section. —darklordtrom 05:21, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Item found in Gym?
Shouldn't there be a note of the Revive found in the Gym in Generation 1? Togelover 20:48, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Probably. felinoel 03:20, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Giovanni Returns
Should it be mentioned that Giovanni is apparently the gym's leader again in Gen V? --Morgil27 (talk) 05:50, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- It might not mean he's currently the gym leader. Blue, Red, and Lance are all in the Champions tournament, but clearly all three can't be champions at the same time. --It's Funktastic~! (talk) 06:02, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
Could the Gym be Ghost Type now in the Anime?
Considering that as far as we know, Agatha is still running the Viridian City Gym, could the gym be technically Ghost Type? It would make sense. Forgive me if I am wrong. --Pokemon26 (talk) 18:26, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- I watched this episode but I don't remember Scott saying she's a "temporary Gym Leader". She's taking care of the place until a new Leader is found but it doesn't mean she's the Gym Leader or that the battle Ash had with her was a "Gym Battle". The article is, therefore, wrong. |) u |( e ® 01:22, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
Another problem with the trivia
No gym trainer in FRLG owns a Rhydon.Sumwun (talk) 03:57, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- I just went ahead and removed that point entirely. It was confusing and seemed to be just making trivia for the purpose of having it IMO. --Pokemaster97 06:34, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Gim?
The second Adventures image is clearly misspelled. Should this be a trivia point or something? Eragon4 (talk) 19:53, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- It appears to moreso be a romanization of ジム Jimu (Gym), rather than a misspelled translation. Of course, the Japanese word is a loanword, so they share the same etymological origin. Landfish7 19:57, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- I feel it's clear that it should read "gym," so valid translation or not it's still an error. Eragon4 (talk) 20:25, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- The intended audience was not native English speakers though. "Gim" is a perfectly valid romanization of the word, and I don't think it would have thrown Japanese readers off at all. Saiko Soda wouldn't be an error either, even though English speakers would probably spell it as "Psycho Soda". Landfish7 21:00, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe we should replace the image with an image from an English localization? The text that says "Tokiwa City" is so small it's impossible to read at thumbnail size, so it's not at all clear that it's an image from the Japanese version. The Viz translation, for comparison, says "Viridian Gym" on the front (and comparing the two, it looks like they literally just inserted a Y between the G and M from the Japanese version). - That seems fair. Otherwise, I don't really see the point of having a trivia point or the like state that an image we happen to use includes a romanization of a loanword with a different spelling than the word in the original language. I'm sure this image isn't the only example of a panel like this, it's just one we happen to have on the wiki. Landfish7 11:47, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
