Why is this called "Red, Green & Blue arc" when the arc is called "Red, Blue & Green arc" in official English translation? Seems very strange when this wiki uses official English terms/names over a direct Japanese translation. TBR2001 (talk) 22:29, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
- I've done some research about that in the past, as we can see in the terminology section. Correct me if I'm wrong, but basically the first few English volumes had no arc title like "Red, Green & Blue arc", "Red, Blue & Green arc", or even "Yellow arc" written anywhere. "The First Chapter", "The Second Chapter", and "The Third Chapter" have never been used in official media either, as far as I can tell.
- The arc names started to be included in the English version with the "Gold & Silver" volume covers (they are not called "Gold, Silver & Crystal" in English).
- "Ruby & Sapphire" was the first to be also officially named as "The ... Chapter", having been referred to as "The Fourth Chapter".
- If we keep the current page title "Red, Green & Blue arc (Adventures)", I would suggest at least adding some note stating that this name has never been used in English.
- For the first arc, the closest I have found is that the author notes in the volume 14 mentioned the 第1章 (first arc) in the Japanese version, which was translated in the English version as "Red, Blue and Green episodes". I don't think that was deliberately meant as the official title, but I suppose that's one point in favor of using the RBG order instead of RGB. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 01:17, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- I own the collector's edition that compiles the first three volumes (the entirety of this arc) into one book, and the final page says "Pokémon Red, Green & Blue" with Fin at the bottom. I don't own the standalone volumes so it's possible that this was added specifically for the collector's edition, but there definitely is precedent for the English translation using the Japanese ordering.
- And missing the Oxford comma. :'( Storm Aurora (talk) 02:12, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- (fwiw, the Oxford comma is not used with an ampersand in most style guides, and never in Pokémon contexts to my knowledge) Landfish7 04:10, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Interesting, I didn't know that. So there's precedent for using the RGB order in English after all. Yes, to the best of my knowledge, the individual volumes of the first and second arcs don't have any kind of arc title.
- Maybe we could check if "Yellow" is also written at the end of the Yellow arc in the collector's edition.
- Anyway, it looks like the third arc is still named "Gold & Silver" instead of "Gold, Silver & Crystal" in the English version. That shorter title is on the cover of the individual volumes and the cover of the collector's edition volumes as well. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 20:28, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
