Content from National Ash Ketchum Day pre-merge

Just A Heads Up

The celebration may end up being changed to "World Ash Ketchum Day" next year owing to the suggestion of Veronica Taylor. https://twitter.com/TheVeronicaT/status/1306024425561620480

We'll wait and see how it turns out next year. Till then, it's fine. AdilTalk page 22:29, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I was only saying this as an FYI. I wasn't suggesting a page name change. I was merely informing people. Pikatwig (talk) 16:52, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Temporary Lock of Page

I am suggesting this as the person who had originally created the idea for the day has been outed as a sexual predator. I simply think it might be good to give this page a temporary lock down so as to prevent people from vandalizing it. Pikatwig (talk) 23:47, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

What's your source? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:24, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay, looked it up. Not sure if page lockdown is necessary, though. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:28, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
The Pokémon Company has adopted the hashtag, if the problem is the user who initiated it, it would be fairer to remove the person's quote or something like that. It does not make sense for the page to be deleted or locked by actions of third parties.--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 23:00, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree. I didn't even notice the page had already been locked when I posted here. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 23:19, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Entity Mays Situation

So recently the person who created the hashtag #NationalAshKetchumDay was founded do be a pedophille and I see since we are also linking to his page. I was wondering if we should remove the name and replace it with something mroe general. Izington (talk) 15:54, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sounds like an unconfirmed/false accusation to me. His Twitter page is still up, and I don't see any tweets about this there. What's your source? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:23, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Found it. Not sure if there's need to change it, though. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:28, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Mhm got it. Izington (talk) 08:26, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

2021

Something should probably be added regarding the day in 2021. It wasn't officially acknowledged, and an alternate hashtag, #WorldAshKethchumDay, was widely circulated around Twitter. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:52, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

2022

Apparently the date is still being celebrated by the anime staff.-Hikaru Wazana (talk) 04:34, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

With this, I feel the page could continue existing without mention of EM.--FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:31, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

National vs World

Should this page be renamed as World Ash Ketchum Day? It has been called "World Ash Ketchum Day" since last year I think, and this name better represents the scale of its acknowledgement and is not retraceable to EM and that whole can of worms. Shinka (talk) 01:57, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deletion discussion

This template has been proposed for deletion by User:SnorlaxMonster. The reason given is: Not notable - a hashtag that was used one time. - bthrussellUK (talk) 21:47, 17 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

It has since then been reused under different name. I could see it being maintained, just without mention of its now-controversial creator. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 00:36, 18 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
The article isn't that long. That information could maybe be merged into a different article? Landfish7 02:27, 18 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

2023

The hashtag is still used by the community and some important people within the community are still using the day to commemorate the episode. https://twitter.com/sarahnatochenny/status/1702752535680000375 There was even a post about it on Bulbapedia's Twitter. https://twitter.com/Bulbapedia/status/1702707624847016228--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 13:18, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest putting the page under the dual use of Project Real Life and Project Fandom, which would allow community usage to contribute to this article's content. Salmancer (talk) 13:43, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
If the April Fool's Day articles include fandom content, I see no reason for this article not to. They are both out of world holidays which get celebrated by the brand, with the only difference being April Fools Day often has in world ramifications. Which shouldn't disqualify treating this in the same way April Fools Day is. Salmancer (talk) 21:02, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Expanded scope and history merge

This page's scope has been expanded to encompass all official Pokémon franchise social media accounts as well as notable social media trends and events. The page history of National Ash Ketchum Day has been merged with the developmental revisions for the new Pokémon social media page, the content of which has now been mainspaced and moved to the current title.
