Split into "Meteorite" and "Meteorite (Deoxys)"?

this is being brought over from the discord

it was brought up that the Meteorites are all entirely different items contextually that only share the same name, internal data, and/or origin.

currently, it's all being covered as one page with distinctions added in the intro of the page to clarify the differences, but it was proposed that the pages could be split somehow.

The RSE Meteorite and the FRLG Meteorite are entirely different storywise, but are internally the same item and have the same bag sprite (No. 280, Hex:0x0118) The RSE Meteorite from Mt. Chimney returns in ORAS with expanded lore, transforming into multiple states throughout the story and enabling Rayquaza to Mega Evolve during the Delta Episode (important to mention that the RSE Meteorite had 0 links to Rayquaza at all)

A Meteorite Key Item makes its debut in SV, isolated from the previous meteorites, to act similarly to the meteorites found in Veilstone City and such by being used to as the form-changing item for Deoxys.

The RSE and ORAS ones make the most sense to be one page, as they're the same item, sprite and all. The FRLG one is interesting because it's fully disconnected but it still has the same bag sprite and index number as mentioned above, so it could be lumped in with the former two? There's not much else to say about it in its own article. The SV one has the potential to display a gallery of the meteorite locations in older games, in a similar way the Moss Rock and Ice Rock articles do. Chaogotchi (talk) 04:59, 18 January 2026 (UTC)

I almost wonder if it wouldn't hurt to have Meteorite be a general overview article about meteorites in the Pokémon world, and then the specific items can be split off from there with appropriate dabtags. Landfish7 06:40, 18 January 2026 (UTC)

For now, I've created a userspace page that could show what the Deoxys-centric meteorite page would look like.

i've decided to add Meteorite#Non-item_appearances into the current article since it's useful information that should be present somewhere while we decide on whether this should be split, as it still can fit in the current page. Chaogotchi (talk) 07:49, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
