There's already an article called Decoration. Can some delete this and convert it into a redirect? Manga-in-a-bottle 10:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

The Generation IV listings seems to be missing the Secret Base decorations, such as tables, cushions, and various other items. Would someone who has a comprehensive list of these things be willing to contribute to the page? Thanks! Kisaoda 13:28, 14 January 2009 (EST)

Redirects

Shouldn't the articles Carpet, Beds and Game system all redirect to this page. Those pages seem redundant when we have this one. |) u |( e ® 15:41, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Pretty pictures...

The user above makes a good point, IMO. Those pages are—or should be—useless. The problem is, right now, this page isn't great either. Right now, this page is kind of just "look at the pretty pictures of all the decorations", with little (or somewhat unclear) information on how to actually obtain everything. Instead, for some unfathomable reason, that's mostly spread out over pages for all the different types of decorations. That's not at all a smart way to do things; the information about where to obtain all the decorations (for a given generation, at least) should really all be together in one place.

So that's what I've currently done with User:Tiddlywinks/Decoration/Generation II and User:Tiddlywinks/Decoration/Generation III. Generation IV and Generation V basically already have a single point of aggregation (as evidenced by the "main" template links to Goods and Décor in those sections), so those'll probably be alright. I just need to make a page for Gen VI, then.

My thoughts are, either the pages I've made should be mainspaced directly (names are negotiable; "Decoration (Generation II)" and such are very possible), or those contents should be pasted into here. (And with Goods, Décor, and Pokémon-Amie decorations already on their own dedicated pages, I think it'd kind of make the most sense for other decoration sets to have their own pages.) If the pages are mainspaced to stand on their own, then I think this page should really be cut down to mostly just be a gallery of all the decorations (though I'm honestly not much for this option), or we cut out all the decoration pictures and focus on just directing readers to the right aggregate page, at most limiting text to a simple overview of the decoration "system"/mechanics/whatever for each generation.

Anyone have any thoughts? Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:44, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Ideally, both RSE and ORAS decorations should share the same page, since a lot of the mechanics and decorations are similar. I'm not sure whether there would be too many changes for that to be viable, though. --Abcboy (talk) 23:52, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Decoration transfer

Is there any way that the player can transfer Decorations between 2 Game paks via Stadium 2?--Bluetails (talk) 11:11, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Regirock and Registeel dolls in ORAS

This page claims the Regirock and Registeel Dolls can be obtained by scanning the QR codes for Junichi Masuda and Shigeki Morimoto's Bases, but is this really true? Other sites claim those dolls are unobtainable, and I scanned the base QR codes and talked to them repeatedly and never got those dolls. Rjd1922 (talk) 03:59, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Decorations reorganization

I'm proposing the following changes:

For the merges, most of the pages on the decoration categories are very short, and have a lot of repeated information between themselves as well as with this page. Because the Generation IV games don't categorize their decorations at all, there's often only one or two items that would fall into the bed/chair/cushion/ornament categories used in the other games. I imagine that for most people, it would be more useful to have all of the information on the decorations in a particular game on the same page, rather than seeing information on every plant across multiple games.

For Pokémon doll, there's enough non-decoration-related appearances of Pokémon dolls that I think the page could still stand on its own. I would move the descriptions and prices to the main decorating listing though, and just keep a list of dolls with pictures in each game.

For the splits, this follows what we've done with Trainer customization and the various "List of clothing" articles. This page is quite long, especially with images of each decoration present. I suggest keeping the overview and mechanics on this page, while splitting off only the detailed lists with the sprites, descriptions, how to acquire them, etc. to separate pages. Some notes on usage:

  • In Generation II, usage of "decoration" is always in the singular, since it's referring to the decoration of your room rather than the objects themselves. I don't think this is a big issue, since the function is still called もようがえ in subsequent games where the items themselves are called グッズ or もようがえグッズ.
  • In Generation IV, while they're often called just "goods" in-game, they're also called "decoration goods" as well. Having "decoration" in the title would better tie it to the main Decoration article.
  • In Generation VI, "Decoration" is a proper noun, so capitalizing it in that context would be appropriate.

I strongly support this reorganization. I think sorting decorations by game is the cleanest way to organize them. --SnorlaxMonster 11:39, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
