Thoughts

Hey Neumannz, thanks for continuing to work on this page! Just a couple of things:

  • The devs have been recycling the teams that the characters are using, which means that I don't think it's necessary for us to list out the teams for each week. Also since the rosters are changing slightly each week, I feel this page will get too long. Instead I feel it would be best to list out all the possible teams available (which is two for each character). I can tell you've already been thinking of this with the A B tables going above. I feel the A B tables you have currently look a little clunky. Try to find something more tighter, or it might be better to just drop availability overall.
  • I haven't had a good long think about the parameters at the moment. Your table looks fine, though it may get a little too long later. An option is to put a show-hide function. However you should note that the order of the parameters is not that important because the battles can also be done in any order. These parameters are also being recycled so I feel there can be a more streamline way of showing this information.
  • Your current tables don't need all columns. Since it's not a template, you have the flexibility in dropping certain columns, such as Difficulty, and First-Time rewards.
  • I believe Lorelei has Dewgong rather than Seel IIRC.--Wowy(talk) 03:28, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
  • My thoughts about the teams is to end up with something along the lines of how the Battle Villa article handles the changing order of groups. It's trickey; we'd end up with five tables of trainer teams (each EF member + champion) and one for showing what the lineups are each week. I am definitely open to suggestions for designing the latter.
  • You're a bit wrong here; while you can challenge the EF members in any order, the order of parameters is actually fixed. In other words, if the Round 1 parameter is special damage reduction, that will be applied to whoever you challenge first out of the four options.
  • Yeah, I need to take a little time to redesign, I haven't had enough spare time to do much more than document the new lineups and paramenters so far, though.
  • You might be right, I'll double check. --Neumannz (talk) 01:35, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for the prompt reply. I quite like the tables you've changed above. Just a couple of other points:
  • I'm aware that the order of parameters is fixed. What I meant was that, because the Elite Four can be battled in any order, the order of the parameters is no longer so important. For example, regardless of whether the special damage reduction parameter is round 1 or 3, the player can still use the parameter to defeat Lance if they want. Up to you if you feel that the order is important for the reader to know.
  • For the ABC table, it might be nicer to put all the characters in one row (i.e. Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha, Lance, Blue in one row). It might be a tad long, but it will become vertically too long with the current table I feel, and it'll much easier to read (or update).
  • The graded colours are nice, and I presume you've added them in to help identify the ABC more easily in the table above. However, I feel that the colours B and C are too similar and I can't tell B from C in the ABC table. You can try finding different colours to use, though I don't know if the added effort is necessarily worth it.--Wowy(talk) 09:40, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
I added a new version of the trainer schedule table under the previous versions. I also attempted to make the parameter schedule table collapsible, but I'm not sure if I set it up properly; the collapsing isn't consistent for me, and I don't know how to get the column widths to line up with the headers when it's like this. I don't suppose you know someone more familiar with working with collapsible tables?
I also switched the color set I was using with the contest stat colors, so I'm hoping it's easier to read. --Neumannz (talk) 21:07, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Took a bit of trial and error because the collapsing wouldn't really work on preview mode. But it seems I've got the collapsing right. If you transfer all this to the user page, it should be close to mainspacing.--Wowy(talk) 09:57, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Since we know from the second round of Master Mode that the opponent options and rewards are fixed for now, it's reasonable to add the above to the article --Wowy(talk) 05:21, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
