Any source on this kid's name? --PAK Man Talk 14:52, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean? I've seen the episode and it says "alex Davis" so I dont get what your asking really. --Hey1031 23:22, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

My reasoning behind my question was because a while back, somebody vandalized Wikipedia's article on Pokémon and put the name "Alex Davis" everywhere Ash's name was. I didn't know if this was his real name or not, and I haven't seen the episode in years. --PAK Man Talk 19:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, I justed watched the episode part where he appeared and he specifically said "I'm Alex Davis from Cherrygrove City." MoldyOrange 20:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

4 moves

"His Alakazam knows at least seven different moves, more than any of the Pokémon games allow"... Umm, so do most main character Pokémon, right? Isn't this a common difference between the games and anime? (oh, and btw, yeah, I'm back...) --ElectAbuzzzz 14:42, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Usually these Pokémon don't use more than the four they are allowed in a given episode. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 14:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The moves were, it this order: Zap Cannon, Psychic, Headbutt, DynamicPunch, Double Team, Teleport, and Hyper Beam. But usually, main character Pokémon will start using one attack and slowly stop using others, but they won't use 7 in an episode. MoldyOrange 20:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

So... should the 7 moves thing be mentioned because in Drake's Dragonite it is noted and he only used six. --Hey1031 22:27, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Accent

It seems that quite a few people are claiming that the English accent is a British accent, which is moronic as Britain is an island and not a country. I thought people would have caught on to such an idiotic mistake before me. Beddler (talk) 17:15, 25 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Source behind contest claim

I was watching this episode at 4 AM (as you do), and was so perplexed by this random British accent. So I came here to see if it was some kind of benign reference, but then I see the bit in the trivia page about "Alex Davis" winning a British competition. There was no citation, so I googled. Other wikis have the same claim, but no citation as well. This appears to have spread around but no one seems to know the actual Alex Davis, or what competition this even was. I have the best answer we seem to have at the end, but did track through some random things I found so that others who are curious can follow along with my "journey" here.

I did find this old Serebii thread where someone was curious about Alex Davis, asking if they were a competition / Make-A-Wish winner in a post from 2008 https://forums.serebii.net/threads/power-play-173.38664/post-9219144

...no one responded, but the competition winner is claimed as a fact on the next page as a fact in a 2016 post, which seems to be after this info was going around and making it on wiki pages: https://forums.serebii.net/threads/power-play-173.38664/post-17976809

It seems to have been added to the Bulbapedia page in 2013, with this edit: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Alex_Davis&oldid=2029466

On his Talk Page, WatcherMark claims that "the mods" linked a post from "Davis himself", but with no link: User talk:Watchermark#c-Watchermark-2014-01-07T00:23:00.000Z-Alex Davis

With some Google-fu I found the post, from "alex-davis", who had a friend show them the thread in December 2010: https://bulbagarden.net/threads/can-anyone-tell-me-what-episode-this-is-from.55340/post-2604067

Alex says they're from from Canterbury, Kent, and entered a contest from "m&s", which I'm guessing is Marks & Spencer, a British retailer. They were flown in to NYC, apparently. Naturally, they offered to answer questions in the thread and then vanished. So for others who were wondering about this, this seems to be all of the info there is on "Alex Davis" with regards to Pokemon. Anything past this is going to require tracking down "Alex Davis"es from the area and questioning them (a big no-no) or asking someone from 4Kids at the time to verify these details. Which isn't me suggesting either, just saying this is where the trail ends.

So I'm going to add that thread as a citation, even if it is kind of iffy as a "source". It's the closest thing to one there is. I understand if it gets removed also lol. Some part of me does wonder if it was a Pokemon fan who saw that initial Serebii post and ran with it, but I don't think there's a reasonable way to know for sure...it seems the episode credits Alex Davis as Kayzie Rogers, but sometimes there are random oddities with non-actor credits so maybe they just tossed a 4Kids name in there to "cover" themselves, so to speak. Anyway, that's all I've got. Now to have this question bother me for years to come. MykonosFan (talk) 11:20, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
