However, due to X's friends pulling out the weapon's key at the last second and [[Xerxer|Xerneas]] having absorbed back most of its power from the weapon upon awakening, the blast was weakened so much that no innocent lives were lost anywhere in [[Kalos]]. The Gym Leaders, despite their close proximity to the blast, had been protected from it by Valerie and Olympia's Pokémon. When X told {{adv|Y}} that Xerneas wanted to be {{pkmn2|caught}} by one of the heroes, Y did so, adding Xerneas to her [[party|team]]. However, just before she could have Xerneas destroy the ultimate weapon, [[Malva]] appeared to stop her from doing so, revealing that she had succeeded in finding and catching {{p|Yveltal}}.
