Allister debuted in JN091. While traveling through Wyndon Station, Allister accidentally bumped into Ash and dropped his train ticket. Hoping to return the dropped item, Ash and Goh followed Allister and found themselves boarding a ghost train. By the time the three reunited, Ash had been possessed by the lone spirit of a Spiritomb boarding the train. While Goh kept the main Spiritomb body busy, Allister helped remove the spirit from Ash's body. Ash's Gengar then returned the lone spirit back to its body, calming Spiritomb down. Upon the train reaching Stow-on-Side, Allister disappeared.

He reappeared in JN092, where Ash and Goh learned that Allister was one of Stow-on-Side's Gym Leaders. However, unlike other Galar Gyms his was not a stadium and had a lot of moss growing over it from lack of care to the point where one could not even see the door. After initially being spooked from seeing Ash and Goh again, he reluctantly let them into the Gym where they explained they had come to Stow-on-Side to help Gengar learn to Gigantamax. Allister led  Ash and Goh to the Stow-on-Side Stadium and told Ash to try Gigantamaxing Gengar. However Gengar simply Dynamaxed, and Allister told Ash Gengar lacked the Gigantamax factor so could not Gigantamax through training, much to their dismay. Allister told them that Gengar could still achieve its Gigantamax form by drinking Max Soup made by Max Mushrooms. He then went with Ash and Goh to collect 3 clusters of Max Mushrooms he needs to make the Max Soup for Gengar to drink. During their travels through the woods Allister helped Ash and Goh avoid being hurt by wild Galarian Corsola and an angry Trevenant. Coming across a wild Drakloak and Dreepy using the mushrooms as a cushion, Allister asked them if they could take the mushrooms. Ash realised Allister had the ability to speak with Ghost-type Pokémon but assured the nervous boy he didn't think he was weird for this. As the Max Soup needed a night to brew and simmer, Ash and Goh slept at the Gym. Allister told Gengar he understood that Gengar had a very lonely life before meeting Ash but now he had a bright future and wanted to prove himself worthy of the truth Ash had placed in him. Gengar started hugging Allister, and the boy let out a rare smile as his mask slipped off briefly. The following morning, the soup was done and Gengar drank it, allowing both Ash and Gengar to successfully achieve the Gigantamax form. By the end of the day, Allister bids the group farewell as the train departs, hoping to meet Ash and Gengar again someday.
