:::I think the mention of Mew should be removed from the article entirely. Mew is not "supposedly able to learn every move", it is able to learn every Machine. Doesn't it say below in red not to misrepresent misconceptions as fact? --ZellMurasame 16:36, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

::::In FR/LG/E, it can learn every tutor move except the not-so-great Elemental Beams. Hence why we mention it. 16:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

:::::Yes but as it is stated above, those were never Technical or Hidden Machines. So it would make sense that they could (and are) excluded. Every tutor move Mew learns is already a TM. --ZellMurasame 16:44, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

::::::Flamethrower wasn't before Gen II (though it would become one). I also cite Mew's Pokédex entry for FireRed: "A Pokémon from South America that was thought to have been extinct. It is very intelligent and learns any move." And as well, let me cite the entry for Pearl: "Many scholars regard it as the ancestor of Pokémon since it can use all known moves." I've added the emphasis, of course. I merely added the disclaimer because it says repeatedly in the games that Mew can learn any move. Not any machine move, but any move, period. And so the games are liars and we must attest to this. 20:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

:::::::I was thinking that Mew could be "able to learn" these moves if they were just random specialized moves, but Mew is just "not allowed to" in a sense, because of their meaning and purpose.  The meaning and purpose of these moves (to be tailor-made for the starters and the Dragon-type Pokémon) is what disallows the tutors to teach them to Mew.  They're like regular move tutors, except that they have an extra condition in their programming.  If Volt Tackle weren't an Egg move but a tutor move for the Pikachu family, such move tutor would probably not allow Mew to learn Volt Tackle.  And yeah...  That second paragraph sounds a little trivia-like; its first sentence would be enough IMO. --Johans 16:34, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
