e-Reader data

The Expedition Base Set print includes a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and has the card ID B-55-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.

Release information

VS and e-Card Series

This card was first released in the Japanese Pokémon VS expansion with artwork by "Big Mama" Tagawa. It was later released with e-Reader data in English as part of the Expedition Base Set, originating from the Japanese Base Expansion Pack.

EX Series

Pokémon Reversal was reprinted with new artwork by Hiromichi Sugiyama in EX Ruby & Sapphire, originating from the Japanese Torchic Constructed Starter Deck. This print infamously mangled the intended effect, changing it from being "flip for Gust of Wind" to "flip for half a Warp Point". The card was reprinted in EX FireRed & LeafGreen and EX Unseen Forces with different text that more closely matches the Expedition print, with a slight tweak for 2-on-2 play. In Japan, it was reprinted in several preconstructed decks: the Movie Commemoration VS Pack, the Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Random Constructed Starter Decks, the Meganium Constructed Starter Deck, and the Movie Commemoration VS Pack: Aura's Lucario.

HeartGold & SoulSilver Series

Pokémon Reversal was reclassified in Japan as an Item card during the LEGEND Series, though the English Trainer cards would not adopt this naming convention until after this card's latest print.

Its HeartGold & SoulSilver reprint featured new artwork by Wataru Kawahara, originating from the HeartGold Collection. This artwork was reprinted in the Japanese Tyranitar Constructed Standard Deck.

The Japanese Raichu Battle Starter Deck print exclusively features another new illustration by Hideaki Hakozaki.

Rulings

This card's EX Ruby & Sapphire print received errata to match the text that would later be printed on the EX FireRed & LeafGreen and EX Unseen Forces prints.

Trivia

This card's HeartGold & SoulSilver print's effect matches that of the newer card Pokémon Catcher, after Pokémon Catcher's text was changed by errata.
