After Baraz sets off to find the Prison Bottle for Hoopa, Meray remembers how the three of them grew up together. The young Baraz decides that Hoopa should use its rings to help people instead of playing tricks on them, but it doesn’t always go as planned. Hoopa tries to help a farmer who’s desperate for rain, but showers him with candy instead! When they return the candy to the baker Mira, she sets them to work at her shop—where Hoopa tries to help, but ends up breaking Mira’s precious statue. The kids do their best to reassemble it, but the end result is…rather colorful. Mira is angry at first, but then laughs at their creative repair job and offers them some donuts. Hoopa is immediately enthralled—and back in the present, as Meray and Hoopa make their way to Dahara City, they plan to eat more donuts while they wait for Baraz to return!

Plot

As Baraz leaves to find the Prison Bottle in the dessert, he bids farewell to Meray and Hoopa and flies off on his Braviary. Meray recollects how she and her brother grew up with Hoopa in Arche Valley.

The people of Arche Valley have slightly different powers compared to people not from Arche Valley. Young Baraz is practicing his powers with his friends Lucianne, Pit, and Kevie, while young Meray eats a watermelon. Meray spits the seeds away from her and Hoopa uses its rings to create a portal so that the seeds hit Baraz on the back of his head. Hoopa copies Meray to spit a lot of seeds on Baraz, which Kevie likens to Bullet Seed. Baraz scolds Hoopa to not use its powers during practice, and tells Meray she needs to be practicing too. Meray decides to pass since she is too young, but Baraz teels her to start practicing her abilities as early as possible. The other comment on Baraz's lectures by calling him an old man. Baraz wonders if Hoopa's rings can be used in a more useful manner, prompting everyone to think about what can they be used for. Pit remembers that Old Man Dom is having trouble with his fields not having enough water, and Baraz asks Hoopa to make raindrops appear on the fields. Old Man Dom notices a piece of candy falling down, as more start to appear. Meray says that Hoopa summoned gumdrops instead of raindrops. Old Man Dom scolds Hoopa, and on noticing the gumdrops are from Mira's shops, tells all the kids to return them at once.

While the kids are hauling the candy away, Hoopa is sad that it got yelled at, but Baraz and Meray tell it that it'll do better next time. The kids apologize to Mira, who says Baraz and Meray need to teach Hoopa properly. Mira asks the kids to knead a huge ball of dough and divide it into smaller pieces. After the kids are done, Mira tells them to stack them and put a weight on them. When Kevie asks what she is making, Mira replies that they'll find out soon and leaves. After stacking the dough between wooden planks, the kids realize that Mira forgot to tell them where the weight was. Baraz decides that they can make use of Hoopa's rings, and asks it to make a weight appear, like a huge stone. Hoopa summons a Graveler which backs up and breaks an ivory statue.

The Graveler starts to roll onto the street, but Hoopa brings it back. Baraz apologizes for startling it and Meray asks Hoopa to send it back to where it came from. The kids hear Mira coming out to see what the noise was, and Kevie asks Pit to buy some time by holding down the door. The kids hide the broken pieces and Meray asks Hoopa to bring a different piece of ivory so Mira won't notice. Hoopa uses its rings to bring a Mannekin Pis statue which "urinates" on Baraz, promting it to say its the wrong kind of ivory needs. Hoopa tries again and brings a Phanpy, to which Lucianne notes that Hoopa did bring ivory but its attacked to the Phanpy. Baraz tells Hoopa to bring a piece of Ring ivory, which are found all over the village. Hoopa brings the correct type of statue this time, but one which is too big. Pit releases the door and Mira finally gets out. She asks what the noise was to which the kids say it was nothing. She notices the larger statue and feels something is off, to which Baraz say it might be her imagination. After she leaves, the kids let out a sigh of relief. Kevie notices the statue is the one from the town square fountain, and asks Hoopa to send it back immediately.

While the kids debate about what to do with the broken statue, Hoopa is amused but Baraz scolds it saying the Ring ivory statues are endeared by the village people. Meray discovers that the pieces fit together and Baraz asks Hoopa to make tools for attacking appear. Hoopa summons a hammer, pliers and nails, to which Lucianne remarks that they can technically be used for attaching. Baraz asks Hoopa for something sticky, and Hoopa summons tape, glue and a Rice Ball. Kevie says the rice grains can be used as glue, and the kids start attaching the statue back together. After they are done, the statue looks very colorful due to the different kinds of tape used. A piece at the top breaks off and starts to fall but Hoopa uses its Psychic abilities to catch it and attach it back, but upside down. Mira appears and the kids apologize. Mira looks at the statue and says the kids worked hard to accomplish something in their own way, and offers them donuts, made from the dough they were kneading earlier. Everyone eats donuts and Hoopa says they are very tasty.

Back in the present, Meray remarks they messed up a lot but still enjoyed a lot and grew up with Hoopa. As she approaches Dahara City, she remarks Hoopa will be just fine. Hoopa says it wants to have donuts after it reaches there. Elsewhere, Baraz flies overhead on his Braviary looking for the Prison Bottle, which is sealed underground.

Dub edits

The deleted scene
  • The scene in which Hoopa summons a Manneken Pis statue that then "urinates" on Baraz is removed entirely.
    • Due to this edit, the dialogue in the said scene was altered as well. In the original, Baraz tells Hoopa that they'll need ivory to fix the broken statue, prompting Hoopa to summon him the statue. When Baraz says that it's a wrong kind of ivory, Hoopa instead summons a Phanpy, but Baraz protests that the ivory in it cannot be used, since it's inside the Phanpy. In the dub, Baraz instead asks Hoopa to bring them "something fancy", thus explaining Phanpy as Hoopa mishearing what Baraz said.
