Draft:Badge case

A Badge case (Japanese: ) is an object that is used by Trainers to store Badges earned by defeating Gym Leaders or completing challenges. It is usually depicted as a metallic case or box.
In the core series games
Badge cases are part of the Trainer Card section of the in-game menu, displaying which badges the player has obtained. In many games, each badge is accompanied by a picture of the corresponding Gym Leader.
The first in-game depiction of a badge case is in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, where it has special slots that match the unique shapes of the badges. In these games, as well as in Pokémon Platinum and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the player can use the touchscreen of the Nintendo DS or Switch to clean the badges, which become increasingly dirty over time. When tapped, the badges will play a musical note that gets more in tune the cleaner they are.
In Black and White, the badges can still be polished, although they don't make noise when tapped. Instead, the images of the Gym Leaders become brighter and less gray. In Black 2 and White 2, the badges no longer grow dull, and the musical chimes were added back in.
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver and Pokémon X and Y, the badges cannot be polished or used to play music. In Sword and Shield, the badge case is replaced by a golden ring, into which the badges are inserted to form a complete medallion. In Scarlet and Violet, the badges are displayed at various locations of the map when zooming it all of the way out. In games prior to Diamond and Pearl, the badges were simply displayed in rows as part of the Trainer Card itself.

Pokémon the Series

A badge case was first seen in the episode "Battle of the Badge" where Gary Oak showed off his badges to Ash. The case is rectangular and metallic, with an orange outside and a blue interior, and the ten badges are arranged in two rows of five. Some of the badges are familiar, such as the Boulder Badge, but many are unique badges that are never seen again in either game or show.

In "Bad to the Bone", Team Rocket stole Otoshi's badges, removing them from the black drawstring bag he was keeping them in and dumping them into a black box with metallic corners, a latch, and a ring-shaped handle. Later on in the same episode, Jessie, in disguise, encountered an unnamed trainer sitting to the side of a path, holding a red and gold box resembling a small treasure chest and admiring the badges inside.
Ash initially preferred to wear his own badges as pins on the inside of his jacket and did so while traveling in Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto. In Hoenn, Ash received his first badge case as a gift from Norman. description of it
