Release information

This Frienda Pick was available to those who participated in the Challenge the Captain! Celebi Battle! on Pokémon Frienda machines present at various events. All participants would receive a copy of the Frienda Pick after the battle regardless of the outcome.

The first event to host this challenge was the CoroCoro Spirit Festival in Tokyo Toy Show 2025, which was held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo on August 30 and 31, 2025. People visiting the Pokémon booth could watch performances by the Frienda Navigators and Frien-dan, receive a free Frienda Pick-shaped uchiwa (fan) featuring either a Mewtwo or a Lucario design, scan a QR code that would unlock a digital Meowscarada Support Pokémon Ticket in Frienda Circle, and receive one of six physical Support Pokémon Tickets at random. Children of junior high school age and below could try free trial sessions of Battle and Catch! mode on Pokémon Frienda machines and also take on the Challenge the Captain! Celebi Battle! There were also special appearances on each day. August 30 featured Jumbo Takao and Naoto Ikeda, members of the comedy duo Rainbow, who were frequent performers on Oha Suta. August 31 featured Abareru-kun and Hikaru Takahashi from Where Are We Going With Pokémon!?[1]

The next event to host this challenge was the Frienda Camp Exploration Tour, which visited all ten Frienda Camps over the space of ten months:

  • Namco arcade at ÆON Mall Hiroshima Fuchu, Hiroshima on the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025
  • Namco arcade at the Sapporo Factory Store, Sapporo on the weekend of October 11 and 12, 2025
  • Molly Fantasy at the Itami Konyo shopping center, Itami on the weekend of November 8 and 9, 2025
  • Molly Fantasy at ÆON Mall Kashiwa, Kashiwa on the weekend of December 6 and 7, 2025

Each venue planned to accommodate 250 children for the Challenge the Captain! Celebi Battle! and required a participant fee of ¥200. Players that managed to defeat the Captain were given a certificate; if those players had a Trainer Pick, they would also unlock a Frienda Charm on Frienda Circle. The challenge was only held on the Saturday at each venue, while the Sunday hosted photo sessions with the Frienda Navigators and Frien-dan. All visitors could receive one of six Support Pokémon Tickets at venues while stocks lasted.[2]

The next set of events was held on weekends and holidays between November 1 and 24, 2025 at participating stores with a Pokémon Frienda machine. Each store required a participant fee of ¥200, though different stores had different capacities. Locations would conduct a lottery to assign spaces if more attendees arrived at the start of an event. Different stores also imposed different age restrictions; some limited participants to elementary school-aged children, while others were open to all ages. As with the Frienda Camp Exploration Tour, players that managed to defeat the Captain were given a certificate. They would also unlock a Frienda Charm if they used a Trainer Pick during the session. Lottery participants at each event also received a Support Pokémon Ticket for a Lugia.[3]
