Sleep Talk in Generation III

"Sleep Talk can only be used while the user is asleep. It will fail if the user is not. Sleep Talk will randomly choose one of the user's moves, other than Sleep Talk. This also means that it's possible for Sleep Talk to choose the move Rest, although the user is already asleep." This implies that the user will restore their HP even though they are already asleep. This was the case in Generation II (and it was annoying, I'll tell you) but in Gen III, using Rest via Sleep Talk failed, although the user would try. The message that would appear on the screen was something along the lines of "(Pokémon name) is already asleep!". So yeah, you might want to elaborate on that. --Nebula 00:38, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Sleep Talk -> Assist -> Rest

The article states that if Rest is called by Sleep Talk, the Rest will fail (in Generations III and IV). What if Sleep Talk calls Assist, which calls Rest? (Or, similarly but less likely, Sleep Talk calls Metronome, which calls Rest?) Will Rest fail under this circumstance or not? Yenreb 03:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I would assume Rest would fail in those instances as well. Whenever Metronome's randomizer of all moves calls a move, or Assist's randomizer of the 2-on-2 partner's moves calls a move, that move is used with its full potential properties. The same should hold true of other moves with random-choice and/or copying effects, such as Mirror Move. Hence, if Sleep Talk calls another randomizing or copying move which then calls Rest, Rest should fail. --Shiningpikablu252 03:57, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Page refuses to load

This page won't load in either Firefox 28 or Google Chrome 34.0.1847.116 m . In either browser, accessing the page causes the page to take a long time to load, before being brought to a blank page whose name is the URL of the page. Based on what I remember of discussion when the same thing happened on the Headbutt page, I'm pretty sure it's a result of the massive number of templates. The Move Tutor list looked to be the biggest section, so I split it off as a temporary measure while we figure out something more permanent to do. But both the main page and the Move Tutor subpage still take a decently long amount of time to load, so I suspect that even with the split they're both approaching the template limit anyway. How the parents for Gen VI should be listed?

Even though Sleep Talk is now a TM, it is still retained as an Egg Move for many Pokémon since TMs are no longer inherited. So, should we list only those how directly learn the move, or should we list everything that learns that can be a parent(like for example, all potentially Male Fairy Egg Group members for Igglybuff)? Or should we just have a text description? This goes for the respective pages of the Pokémon that learn it as an Egg Move as well. Trainer Yusuf (talk) 21:32, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

For Pokémon that learn TM/Tutor moves as Egg moves, they should be listed. If the move necessarily originates from a Pokémon that learned it via TM/Tutor, then list all possible fathers that could learn the move via TM/Tutor. Otherwise, prioritize Pokémon that learn the move by level-up, and list chain breeding before listing "breed from TM/Tutor". --SnorlaxMonster 03:32, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
