Isn't ninetales supposed to live for 9,000 years? Or ten thousand years...Empoleon13 23:42, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

The Pokédex entries on the species pages are taken directly from the games, so they are correct. As they state, Ninetales lives for 1000 years. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:03, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

GSC Back Sprites

I noticed that the Shiny bakc sprite from GSC has more tail than the not-Shiny version. Is it an error/something and should it be noticed in trivia? --Teddi'Ampha

Holy crap. I hope that's not an error from the uploader.--ForceFire 13:54, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
The regular sprite is from Gold and Silver, whereas the Shiny sprite is from Crystal. Normal Crystal Nintales has the bunch of tails also. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 14:02, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Ah. Someone should probably revert the person that uploaded the shiny crystal sprite if the GS Backsprite is the norm for the sprite box.--ForceFire 14:07, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry, I reuploaded it. The funny thing is, the file said <Spr b 2g038 s.png> not 2c like it should've been.--ForceFire 14:11, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Huh? Shouldn't it be under 2c not 2g Jo?--ForceFire 14:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Actually we both reverted it to the same file at the same time. It shouldn't cause any problems. And we already have the Crystal Sprite. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 14:16, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Weakness

If Vulpix or Ninetales has their Hidden Ability (Drought), it functions the same as having Sunny Day. When Sunny Day is active, Water type moves are reduced to 50%. If that is the case (and please correct me if I am wrong) would the effective damage of Water type moves against a Vulpix / Ninetales with Drought effectively be 1x and not 2x, due to the 50% Water Type reduction. I was just looking under the "Type Effectiveness" section and noticed it wasn't under the Notes. Can anyone verify / double check with me please? Thanks (Solstice (talk) 09:56, 15 April 2013 (UTC))

Effects due to weather are not included in the type effectiveness chart. --SnorlaxMonster 10:01, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

True, it simulates weather. But it's not caused by a move or environment. It's a continuous and passive trait of that specific pokemon, making it a constant effect. Just like Levitate is a continuous and passive trait. (Solstice (talk) 10:16, 15 April 2013 (UTC)) I agree though. It is a weather effect, but it is not weather induced. It is ability induced, making weather. (Solstice (talk) 10:27, 15 April 2013 (UTC))

The Ability induces the weather, but the weather causes the effect. --SnorlaxMonster 10:28, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

I understand. Just thought it would be worth annotating under the notes portion. That's all. (Solstice (talk) 10:38, 15 April 2013 (UTC))

Put it this way: if you Skill Swap Levitate off a Pokemon, it becomes susceptible to Ground-type moves, so it's important to indicate that it is immune to Ground-type moves only if it has Levitate. But if you Skill Swap Drought off Vulpix or Ninetales, the weather continues and Water-type moves remain 1x effective even though Vulpix/Ninetales doesn't have Drought anymore. Conversely, if you use Rain Dance, Water-type moves become 3x effective even though Vulpix/Ninetales still has Drought. It's not the Ability that affects the type effectiveness, it's the weather that does. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 22:18, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Needs redirect

For some reason, Ninetales_(Pokemon) doesn't redirect here, even though every other pokemon I've tried it with has that style of redirect. Either somebody should undelete that redirect, or they should start deleting a hell of a lot more. --Cedrickc (talk) 20:30, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Apparently SnorlaxMonster deleted that page and the equivalent one for Ho-Oh, as well as several un-CamelCase-ed move names, back on April 19. I didn't restore the moves because I understand his justification ("encourages misspelling"), but I restored Ninetales and Ho-Oh because the "é" character is very useful to redirect, seeing as how we don't have a little button to insert it in the search bar like we do here in the editing box. Ok so whats up with Alola Ninetales?

Just want to point out that Alolan Ninetales is the first ever Ice-Fairy Pokemon, so why is that not included in the trivia section yet? Granted I would add it myself but I cant seem to change anything on the page at the moment. Im also curious as to what people think about Alolan Ninetales compared to the regular Ninetales that we all know. Personally I hate the new typing but I think the design is fantastic, and now that Ninetales has a new form, were probably not going to see any mega evolution, and that makes me upset. You're thoughts? Blackoutdmc (talk) 01:23, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
