A Pokémon Showcase

A Pokémon Showcase (Japanese: トライポカロン TriPokalon), also known as a Pokétacular in some dubs, is an anime-exclusive, girls-only competition held in the Kalos region. Trainers participating in them are called Pokémon Performers.

Competition

Pokémon Showcases are performance tournaments that take place in various towns through Kalos. They are divided in two sections. The first is called the Theme Performance and can encompass activities such as making Poké Puffs, grooming Pokémon, or performing with props. The activities per Theme Performance depend on the specific Showcase tournament. The second section is called the Free Performance, which is the same in each Pokémon Showcase. The Pokémon Performer and their Pokémon perform together on stage, making full use of the Pokémon's capabilities. It is similar to the Performance Stage of a Pokémon Contest.

There are several classes in Pokémon Showcase tournaments, with the lowest being Rookie Class and the highest being Master Class. In Showcase, Debut!, it was implied that Pokémon Showcases used to be judged by at least one professional judge. However, at a certain point a famous judge called Yashio quit. In the present day, Pokémon Showcases are judged by the audience. Each contestant gets a special key used to receive votes from the audience. Each person in the audience can bring out one vote on a special voting device. The voting device sends out lights that connect to the keys of the participants. The participant with the key that absorbed the most lights is decided the winner. The winner of a Pokémon Showcase receives a Princess Key.

Aria as Kalos Queen

A Pokémon Performer (Japanese: ポケモンパフォーマー Pokémon Performer) is a female Trainer who raises Pokémon to compete in Showcases, where they demonstrate their partnership and how well coordinated they are together with their performance. A Performer must keep in mind of their Pokémon's capabilities and skills to use to their advantage, quite similar to what a Pokémon Coordinator does.

Pokémon Performers who win at least three Pokémon Showcases can enter the Master Class. Pokémon Performers in the Master Class perform in one last ultimate tournament, with the winner gaining the title of Kalos Queen. The current Kalos Queen is Aria, who managed to win the Master Class tournament with her Braixen.

Shauna had already set her goal to become a Pokémon Performer, and ultimately Kalos Queen. In Day Three Blockbusters!, she informed Serena about Pokémon Showcases, which led to Serena wanting to become a Pokémon Performer as well.
