Three Cheers for Chikorita or VS. Chikorita (Japanese: VSチコリータ VS. Chicorita) is the 118th round of the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

Synopsis

The story starts with Professor Elm scolding Professor Oak for not introducing him to Crystal. He then tells Chikorita that he cannot go with Crystal on her adventure. Feeling angry, Chikorita scratches Elm on the face and runs away. Next, Crystal is at Route 30 and is trying to capture a Victreebel. She tells Archy to use Ember when Chikorita suddenly appears. Seeing a way to escape, Victreebel uses Chikorita as as a shield. Crystal then tells Chumee to use Mean Look and she then captures them. Crystal is glad to be able to catch both of them and tells Chikorita that she is going to send both of them to Professor Oak. Chikorita disagrees and signals that he wants to stay with her. Crystal is happy to hear that but she tells him that she cannot bring a Pokémon that is weak. Chikorita replies by flexing his muscles. Crystal releases Chikorita, but tells him that he has to battle with Hitmonee. Chikorita uses Razor Leaf and is shocked when Hitmonee punches the leaves away. Hitmonee then uses Mega Punch and breaks the ground. Chikorita just stays there while the ground starts to give way. When it stops, Crystal smiles and tells Chikorita that no Pokémon had ever taken Hitmonee's Mega Punch in the face before. She tells him that he has mega watts of courage and names him Megaree. She shows that everyone in her group has a star somewhere and ask Chumee if she could give Mega her star pendant. Chumee agrees and everyone is happy.
