Supreme Gym Leader Drake

The Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader (Japanese: ヘッドリーダー Head Leader) is the title used to address the top-ranked Gym Leader in the Orange Crew. Only Pokémon Trainers skilled enough to earn the four Orange League Gym Badges are allowed to challenge the Supreme Gym Leader in Pummelo Stadium.

In English, the title comes from the manga The Electric Tale of Pikachu. The English dub of the anime uses the title "Orange Crew Leader".

Role

The Orange Crew Supreme Gym Leader serves as the final obstacle in the Orange League. Those who defeat the Supreme Gym Leader in a Full Battle earn the Winner's Trophy, become Orange League Champions, and are honored in the Palace of Victory.

At the time of Ash's journey in the Orange Archipelago, the Supreme Gym Leader is Drake. Ash defeated Drake in Enter The Dragonite. No other Supreme Gym Leaders have been seen and it is unknown how one rises to this position.

In battle, the Supreme Gym Leader must obey specific rules that give an advantage to the challenger. For example, the Supreme Gym Leader is unable to switch Pokémon mid-battle while the challenger is free to do so at any time.

Although the Supreme Gym Leader occupies a similar position to the Champions of the various Pokémon Leagues, they are not displaced upon defeat.
