Bugsy (Japanese: ツクシ Tsukushi) is the Gym Leader of Azalea Town. He trains Bug-type Pokémon, and hands out the Hivebadge to trainers who defeat him. His English name is a clear reference to the word "bug". His French name is "Hector", derived from the French word "insecte" (insect). His German name, "Kai", refers to "Käfer", which means "coleopter". His Italian name is "Raffaello", which is almost an anagram of "farfalla", the Italian word for "butterfly". Bugsy trains in a large, greenhouse-like Gym filled with trees and bugs.
His Scyther can use Swords Dance to deflect Fire-type attacks. However, Ash figured out it was vulnerable from above, and Cyndaquil was able to knock it out, winning Ash the Hivebadge.

Although still young, Bugsy discovered the move Fury Cutter, which gets stronger as a battle goes longer.
In addition to the Hivebadge, Bugsy gives out TM 49, Fury Cutter, in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Pokémon Crystal.
