Alex's grandfather is a character of the day who appeared in Taming of the Shroomish.
Alex's grandfather lived in a mansion called the Green Lodge, set amongst trees in Rinshin Town. Alex retained many fond childhood memories of playing with his grandfather and the many Shroomish that lived there. However, after he passed away, the Shroomish seemingly disappeared from the area and Rishin Town became the urban city it is today. The Green Lodge fell into disrepair over the years and its courtyard became overgrown.
Alex, now an adult, was preparing to clear the entire site to make way for more development. After Ash and his friends came to investigate the supposedly haunted mansion, Alex had second thoughts after finding the mansion was still home to a horde of Shroomish. He decided that he would still demolish the stately home to instead make way for a forest that would house the Shroomish, as a tribute to his grandfather.
