Anakubo in 2017[1]

Kosaku Anakubo (穴久保幸作 Anakubo Kosaku), born April 18th, 1957, is the creator of the manga series Pokémon Pocket Monsters and its sequels: Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire, Pocket Monsters DP, Pocket Monsters HGSS, Pocket Monsters BW, and Pocket Monsters XY. He is also an artist for the Duel Masters Trading Card Game for the card Mauchu,[citation needed] One Extreme,[citation needed] and he is the author of Ore we Otoko da! Kunio-kun,[citation needed] an action and comedy manga that won the Shogakukan Manga Award for children in 1995.[citation needed]

Kosaku Anakubo has two pet cats, Chinmi and Aiya.[citation needed] There are many references to his cats' names in early chapters of the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga.[citation needed]

Pokémon Pocket Monsters

Anakubo's most famous work is the Pokémon gag manga, Pokémon Pocket Monsters. It was one of the first ever Pokémon manga and remains one of the longest running Pokémon manga to date. It was serialized in CoroCoro from when it was first created. The manga is about the adventures of a young boy named Red and his rude Clefairy. After fourteen volumes, the original series ended, but the adventures of the main characters continued in Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire (which takes place in Hoenn), Pocket Monsters DP (which takes place in Sinnoh), Pocket Monsters HGSS (in which the main characters return to Johto), Pocket Monsters BW (which takes place in Unova), Pocket Monsters XY (which takes place in Kalos), Pocket Monsters Sun Moon (which takes place in Alola), and Pocket Monsters Aniki (which takes place in Galar).

Controversy

Though Pocket Monsters was a success, it was briefly taken off the shelves due to nudity in the second chapter of volume one.[citation needed] There was also some nudity in volume two.
