Release information

This card was reprinted in the Japanese-exclusive Pokémon VS expansion and in the EX Deoxys expansion. The EX Deoxys print received an amended card effect for clarity. Power Charge, a card that shares the same illustration, similar name, and effect to this card was released in the Expedition Base Set.

Trivia

Due to the fact that this card's name and, at the time of Power Charge's original Expedition release, effect slightly differed from Power Charge, it was ruled that "Energy Charge" and "Power Charge" were not the same card in the English-language printings. French, Portugese, Brazilian, and Spanish prints of Power Charge still bore the name Energy Charge however. A similar situation would later affect Moo-Moo Milk from Neo Genesis and Moomoo Milk from HeartGold & SoulSilver, where slight differences in name and effect resulted in a ruling saying they were two different cards.
