Mysterious Fossil is a Pokémon Trading Card Game card that can be evolved into one of three different Pokémon: Kabuto, Omanyte, or Aerodactyl. Although it is a trainer card, it counts as a basic Pokémon with 10 HP and no attacks. Mysterious Fossil cannot retreat or be affected by a special condition.

First Version

The first Mysterious Fossil card is numbered 62/62 from Fossil, the third expansion set. If it is knocked out, it does not count as a knocked out Pokémon and the opponent does not take a prize card.

Newer Versions

There are several newer versions of the card, and all read virtually the same effect. However, although this contradicts the text on the card, a new rule that will be in place after the Rotation states that a KOed Fossil card now counts as a KOed Pokémon and the opponent may take a prize card. After the 2007 World Championships, only two Mysterious Fossils will be playable, from the EX Holon Phantoms set and the EX Power Keepers set. Also, newer Mysterious Fossil cards have 50 HP as opposed to 10.
