Dawn's Cyndaquil (Japanese: ヒカリのヒノアラシ Hikari's Hinoarashi) is the seventh Pokémon obtained by Dawn.
In DP143, Dawn battled Kotone in the Johto Festa and defeated her. As a prize, Dawn was given an egg, which was soon abducted by Team Rocket. While it was in Team Rocket's possession, it showed signs of hatching. When Dawn finally got it back, it hatched right in front of her eyes, revealing to be a Cyndaquil.
Dawn's Piplup appears to be jealous over the attention that Cyndaquil was getting. The two often get into fights to prove who is the superior one.

- Of all Pokémon eggs a main character has ever owned, Cyndaquil took the least amount of time to hatch: within one episode.
- Dawn is the second main character to own a Cyndaquil, the first being Ash's.
- Just like how a Cyndaquil appeared in the most recent movie, it has been captured by a Main Character.
- Like May and her Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil is a starter Pokémon that has a type disadvantage to her first starter.
