Just wanted to make sure that you tested the 12 Pokémon cap more than once. While I haven't tested it in SMD yet, I know that in that game there's a limit to the number of Pokémon that can be on the floor at one time, and that the total number spawned would probably vary depending on how many Pokémon were already on the floor.
