Trivia

The Quick Starter Gift Set print has additional text next to the illustrator name that reads: "CoroCoro Comic Illust Contest winning card".

The illustrator of the American variant, Craig Turvey, spoke about his time creating the card in a 2023 interview with MATOBA DESIGN.

Origin

Guard's Japanese name is that of Block, a move later introduced in the Generation III Pokémon games that Snorlax can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue.
