Release information

In Japan, this card was released as one of the S-P Promotional cards and was given away to customers who purchased at least five booster packs from participating Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores, as well as the Pokémon Center Online starting October 23, 2020.[1] Customers at select Pokémon Stores, the Pokémon Center Online, participating Pokémon Centers, and stores hosting Pokémon Card Gym meetings could also receive two copies of this card with the purchase of a Bea Rubber Playmat Set available from the same day. An update to the official Pokémon Card Game Trainers Website on October 4, 2020 announced that Pokémon Center Online pre-orders for the Shiny Star V subset and the Nessa Shiny Star V Set would not be eligible for the giveaway.[1] Another update on October 9 stated that two copies of this card would also be given away with purchases of the VMAX Special Set.[1]

The purchase campaign proved to be extremely popular—an announcement on October 27 stated that it had ended just three days after its launch.[1] A second giveaway phase was subsequently held at Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores, and on the Pokémon Center Online starting November 28, 2020. Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores gave away a copy of this card with the purchase of at least five booster packs in a single transaction. The Pokémon Center Online also included a copy of this card with an order of at least five booster packs, but limited eligible sets to Sword, Shield, VMAX Rising, Rebellion Crash, Explosive Walker, Infinity Zone, Legendary Heartbeat, and Amazing Volt Tackle (Shiny Star V was specifically excluded).[2] A third phase was held exclsuively through the Pokémon Center Online from December 18, 2020. Customers who purchased at least five eligible booster packs in a single transaction were given a copy of this card with their order, with a limit of four copies per account. Booster packs from Alter Genesis, Single Strike Master, Rapid Strike Master, and any High-Class set were specifically excluded from this phase of the campaign, as was the "Expansion Pack Box Course" of the January-March 2021 Pokémon Card Regular Service.[3]

The artwork on this card is by Jiro Sasumo, the winner of the 2nd Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix. The contest logo is present above the Pokédex entry.
