The Nintendo Switch Lite (Japanese: ニンテンドースイッチライト Nintendo Switch Lite) is a handheld-only version of the Nintendo Switch.
First officially announced on July 10, 2019, the Switch Lite was released worldwide on September 20, 2019. It is smaller and cheaper than the regular Nintendo Switch with some functions disabled, most notably not having detachable controllers or being able to connect to a television screen.
Comparison to the original Nintendo Switch
- This console is exclusively handheld, and can only play Nintendo Switch games that support Handheld mode.
- There are no detachable Joy-Con; there are instead built-in controllers that lack HD Rumble and IR Motion Camera features. However, Joy-Con can be paired to the system and used.
