Today is Wednesday 25 September, 2024 Pokémon of the day: Articuno Articuno (Japanese: フリーザー Freezer) is a dual-type Ice/Flying Pokémon that debuted in Generation I. It is a legendary Pokémon and is the first of the legendary birds trio. In Generation I games, as well as the Generation III remakes, Articuno can first be seen in some binoculars on the second story of the gate between Route 15 and Fuchsia City. It can later be battled deep inside the Seafoam Islands. In Pokémon Platinum Version, Articuno can be found roaming around Sinnoh. Articuno made its anime debut in The Power of One where it raged in an epic battle against Zapdos and Moltres, ultimately causing Lugia to appear and calm their rage. It debuted in the series in Freeze Frame where Todd wanted to get a photograph of it. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Articuno was captured by Team Rocket and was merged with Zapdos and Moltres to form Zapmolcuno in The Winged Legends. It was later able to split apart from the other two, and regain its freedom. It later appeared during the final battle against the Masked Man under the ownership of Green, who then lent it to Red to use against an enraged Ho-Oh and Lugia.
