Humans are a species that live in the Pokémon world. They are found in all regions, except the Mystery Dungeon world and PokéPark world. However, in the series that the former world is found in, the main character was usually once a human. In addition to that, Gengar, the leader of Team Meanies was also once a human. They have no known genetic relationship to Pokémon at the present time, but according to Sinnoh myths, they once coexisted as a single species (possibly Mew) and were one and the same. This species transformed between human form and Pokémon form often. Eventually, this species evolved (in the Darwinist sense) into humans and the various species of Pokémon seen today. At the present time, the species of Pokémon that are the most similar to humans are in the Humanshape egg group.
Humans, like humans in the real world, are the dominant species; and have achieved many technological breakthroughs, such as the Poké Ball. They created artificial Pokémon, such as Porygon and Mewtwo. Since ancient times, humans have kept Pokémon as pets and used them for travel.
