- In the Pokémon games, Poochyena is one of a few Pokémon that members of Team Magma use.
- Snarl is a move later introduced in the Generation V Pokémon games that Poochyena cannot learn until it evolves into Mightyena; however, the Japanese names do not match, making this attack and the move unrelated.
