Missingno.

I'm not quite sure in Deoxys is supposed to be based of Missingno. or not. Even my Jirachi-is based-off-the-Beanstar theory manages to mak more sense then that.--Pokencyclopedia 13:33, 6 September 2005 (CDT)

Oh, puh-leeze. Deoxys is not based off Missingno. I should know, I'm the self-proclaimed expert on Deoxys. (the key word there being self-proclaimed.) -- PinkDeoxys 15:34, 8 January 2006 (CST)
Not that I added it to the article, but I do somewhat agree that it shares a few traits... the call, kind of... It's like Hypno sounds like Jynx when sped up, only Deoxys you have to play backwards and sped up to make it sound like Missingno.. And the southern island thing. But I dunno, mostly it's just fan speculation unless we go and ask the designers ourselves. Not that I'd imagine they forgot about Missingno. entirely. Tom Temprotran 06:30, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Deoxys is most likely not based on Missingno.. However, until it can be disproven, it is a valid theory.--Celebi96 02:18, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Location

How do you obtain Deoxys? Where is it? Also, how do you obtain Jirachi or Mew?

Deoxys requires the ticket(forgot the name). On an island. Jirachi is the Colo bonus disk. Mew requires the old sea chart.
The ticket is called the Aurora Ticket. It was given out at Pokémon Rocks America 2004. -- PinkDeoxys 15:30, 8 January 2006 (CST)

IMO, I think Deoxys is based on it's namesake, DNA. or else viruses, with are just coated proteins like DNA.

Deoxys is based off Deoxyriboneucleic (did I spell that right?) acid, or DNA. Its forms, Defense, Normal, and Attack, form the word DNA. The S in Speed is the last letter of its name. -- PinkDeoxys 15:30, 8 January 2006 (CST)

Transfer from Wikipedia

(Just like the exodus of german scientists to America during World War II!) Since the Wikipedia pokemon articles are in danger of being deleted, I made it my duty to add the info to the Bulbapedia articles from Wikipedia, starting with this one!!! MudkipNDS 19:25, 19 July 2007 (UTC)mkds

Eggs

It says "no eggs" for the egg group yet specifies a number of steps to hatch. Huh?--SomeoneIKnew 20:06, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

While it is impossible for a Deoxys egg to exist, every species was given a number of steps to hatch; this information was found through hacking probably. In most cases, impossible eggs are given a ludicrous number of steps anyway.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 21:13, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
It's not impossible to have it, you just have to hack it. But yes, the hatching steps do come from game data. TTEchidna 04:15, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
The reason Deoxys has an egg step number is to prevent the game crash that happend in Gen II, when people would use cheats to get special eggs the games would crash when a legendary egg is made. This way players could hack legendary eggs without crashing their game. GuyNamedSean 18:29, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

D/P Back sprite

Is it just me or that back sprite looks a little... glitchy? Cause it isn't usual to have a brightly colored outline and then darker colors and shading, but meh. :P TinaTheKirlia 16:57, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Looks as if it was cropped out of a move picture, with a move that slightly changed the area around it. --DarkfireTaimatsu 18:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
It was taken from the original sprite rip which for some reason had this issue for all the Pokémon with form differences. I've fixed it now. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:54, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Possible Error?

My Deoxys is in Attack Form, hit Level 33, and learned Pursuit. The movelist says it should have learned Spikes (which I wanted). Is the movelist wrong? Inker 07:41, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

You sure it's in Attack form? The other three learn it at 33, so you might be mistaking the form. TTEchidna 08:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
That was indeed an error, and has now been corrected. For the record, this also applies to Taunt, which is Defense Deoxys' exclusive move, rather than Attack Deoxys' (it learns Knock Off along with the other two).
Whoever got the movelist wrong must have done so because he expected the three non-Normal forms to each have four exclusive moves. In truth, Attack Deoxys has two such moves (Superpower and Zap Cannon), Defense Deoxys - six (Spikes, Taunt, Iron Defense, Amnesia, Counter and Mirror Coat), and Speed Deoxys - four (Double Team, Swift, Agility and ExtremeSpeed). --Unown Lord 16:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I have noticed another error: the page says recruit area of Deoxys is Beau Plains, but it's in fact Enclosed Island! Can someone edit it? I can't find the right section.

Youtube Fake video

I've seen a youtube video that shows a trainer catching it in pokemon ruby [1] this video is obviously fake, cause it's a pokemon FireRed hack and the battle script is the same as Ho-oh, but the video ends just as the battle begins. This guy has tricked so many people to do what they see in the video.

Lv. 50

Somewhat vain.

Likes sweet food.

HP: 120/120

Attack: 155

Defense: 57

Sp. Atk: 163

Sp. Def: 61

Speed: 171

Ability: Pressure

Attacks:

Psycho Boost (PP 5/5)

Zap Cannon (PP 5/5)

Iron Defense (PP 15/15)

ExtremeSpeed (PP 5/5)

And all I needed was the Pokédex, so my second Pokémon (after Turtwig) was this Deoxys, thanks to the "Mystery from Space" Event. I picked it up at Sandgem Town WITHOUT the National Pokédex. Of course, it won't listen to me 19 times out of 20, but that's just because I only have one badge. Lord Thunderboom 18:50, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Forme spelling

Originally, all of Deoxys's different "formes" were thought to be spelled as "form." However, after Giratina's Origin Forme was revealed, fans went back to check Pokémon.com, and the Official Emerald Players guide (published in 2005) to find that "forme" has in fact always been the official spelling"
What exactly does the Player's Guide say? If it's just a random appearance of the word, then my suggestion is revert everything to "Form" until either word appears capitalized in a game, just like "Form" (and never "Forme") appears in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Ranger. IMO, a Player's Guide or news coverings can't be trusted more than the released games themselves. To be fair, the Prima guides also spell it "forme", but still, it's just paper. Super Smash Bros. Brawl spells it "forme", too, but without a capital "F". --Johans 18:01, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

So let me get this right - Prima, a player's guide, the official Pokédex website AND Super Smash Bros. Brawl use "forme" and you still think that the official terminology is "form"? It clearly isn't. Cipher 18:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
My point was that Pokémon Ranger and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spell them "Form", with a capital "F", in the text of the game. They are Pokémon games, more mainstream than any Super Smash Bros. game will ever be, and more digital than any guide will ever be. Bulbapedia is intended to be leaned a bit more toward in-game data from what I know. I remember Zhen Lin telling me to fix the "Electric Squirrel" words and place Pachirisu's species name as "EleSquirrel" for example.
Politoed666, I don't get why my change was reverted specifically here. The current table about Mystery Dungeon is using the in-game spelling, so I was doing the same, in the Pokémon Ranger side game data section, with the names of the Deoxys "formes" (if you wish, outside of the context) as they appear in Pokémon Ranger as mentioned by Solana and Spencer. --Johans 19:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
This is a page from Nintendo's Pokémon Emerald Players guide. [2]
As you can see from the image above, it is not an error, forme is the proper spelling. Trainer-c 18:53, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I hope in the future everybody takes into account the dates in which different spellings appear, though (I suppose that's 2005). --Johans 19:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I hope in the future everybody takes into account the dates in which different spellings appear, though (I suppose that's 2005).

Yup. The guide is from May of 2005 when Emerald was released. And further proof that forme is the proper spelling has shown up in the Deoxys event info at the Pokémon website today. Trainer-c 20:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Changing Problem

How Do we change the Move list?I've found that you can't put a small specific word(such as FR) to that specific forme moves(for the example word must be FRLG) also I checked many website found that Taunt is a Attack Forme only move.--(since English is not my mother language...there may be have grammer mistake) --chungkingpunノ14:24, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Uh oh, youre right =) hfc2X 02:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
That's easy. I set it up for Deoxys's formes. Instead of FR/LG/E/RS, just put the form of the Pokémon. Attack Deoxys learns a move, put Attack. TTEchidna 05:41, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Art in the infobox

I know with Deoxys we do the "standard forme" thing... but we have Wormadam with all three of her coats, same with Burmy, and Shellos and Gastrodon in both West and East Sea variations. I know that's how the Sugimori art came, but why the heck not combine the images into one, then put it in the infobox? TTEchidna 17:42, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm all for combining them, but wouldn't that make the images a tad small? ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Why is it only Attack Forme now? It was fine before when it showed all the formes. Maybe we could do the same thing with this page that the Arceus page has; make it so that each time the page is refreshed it changes the displayed forme.--Celebi96 02:42, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Deoxys changes every day when the page is refreshed, Arceus every second, Giratina every hour and Shaymin is in its Sky Forme during the hours that it is allowed to be in the games. Also, I think that Unown will change every second like Arceus when we find more artwork (if any exists).--MisterE13 02:52, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it's possible with Unown. There isn't any other artwork.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 07:35, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, Rotom now changes with the days of the week: Saturday and Sunday are Normal, Monday is Heat, Tuesday is Wash, Wednsday is Frost, Thursday is Spin and Friday is Cut.--MisterE13 02:21, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

GenIII Backsprites

I always thought we could have the sprites cycle through the ones available in each game like the Arceus sprite does on it's page (the GenIII backsprites being a good example). We could even do this for all multi-formed Pokémon - unsigned comment from MisterE13 (talkcontribs)

For Arceus it is ok, 'cause it has many forms in the same game, but it's not the case for Deoxys (as in Gen III has different forms for different games), so all of them must be shown at the same time.
And another thing... if you want to start a new section on a Talk Page, click on the + at the top and sign your user name with ~~~~. hfc2X 18:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I forgot. I just meant instead of cramming all four backsprites into sections of the box, it could cycle the way the Arceus sprite near the top of the page does. I was also thinking that we could do that for the GenIV ones because you can get all 4. We could also do it with Castform, Cherrim, Arceus, Unown, Burmy, Wormadam, Giratina, Shaymin, Rotom... The sprites could even cycle whenever the moving (Emerald + GenIV) sprites animation finishes.MisterE13 19:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way, I meant this one

Arceus Formes.gifMisterE13 19:17, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

That would be an epic pain. Plus, the only way to do that would be to change the nice, crisp pngs into crappy 256-color gifs, so everyone could see them. And that's a definite no. Anipngs would be for the animation of the sprites, not for showing all of them. The way we've got it is just fine, as far as I'm concerned, since you can click the images anyway to get to the fullsize versions. And we're not doing one of those stupid gifs for everyone. "Forme" trivia

The trivia section currently states "fans went back to check Pokémon.com, and the Official Emerald Players guide (published in 2005) to find that "forme" has in fact always been the official spelling". However, this user says that the official FireRed/LeafGreen guide (published in 2004) uses "form", so apparently the "forme" spelling hasn't been "always official". abwayax (t/c) 00:32, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to go ahead and change that piece of trivia, since I see no objections. abwayax (t/c) 00:20, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Trivia

What is the point of the trivia stating, "In its Generation III Normal Forme sprite, its arm is on its right side, while in Generation IV the arm is on its left. Additionally, in Generation III, it only is shown with four fingers, while in Generation IV, it has five."? The animé (yes that is how you are supposed to spell it), and Sugomori art show that Normal Forme Deoxys can twist the arm-tentacles together to form a "humanoid" arm. Doesn't that meen that it should be able to have an arm on either side, and probably change the finger number? GuyNamedSean 23:58, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Then go and add that part to the trivia. hfc2X 01:40, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Horrible fuzzy pictures!

Why is the Deoxys picture used at the top of article always enlarged, so that it is horribly pixelated? I think it would be better just to make it smaller, which I would do if I knew how, but I'm not very familiar with Wiki code. Taromon777 20:19, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I've been wondering that too, but I don't have any artwork to replace it with. Also, is there a reason that the Speed Forme sprite in the Gen III evolution line is the one from Gen IV? It looks out of place since the Normal, Attack, and Defense Forme sprites there are from Gen III.--Celebi96 15:36, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
It's because the only Speed GenIIIwe have moves, which would look even more out of place. Feel free to upload another.--MisterE13 15:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Okay, let me see if I can crop a sprite from somewhere. I'm not familiar with the code, though, so it may take me a few tries to make it work...--Celebi96 14:31, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Never mind, I found a sprite at PKMN.net. We are allowed to use it, since it's a sprite, right? 386speed.png I don't know how to upload it, though.--Celebi96 14:55, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Color change

Has anyone else noticed that Deoxys's Gen III sprites are different colors than its Gen IV sprites? Its Gen III sprites are orange, while its Gen IV sprites are darker and more reddish. Should this be added to the trivia?--Celebi96 13:23, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

No...it's not important...because it's the same color. -Sketch 13:36, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it's darker in Gen IV, if you compare the back sprites. Also, the gem in its chest is a different color in Emerald than it is everywhere else; it's pink in Emerald, but purple in all other games and formes, even its Gen IV Speed Forme. And is it just me or is its gem bigger in its Defense Forme than in its other formes?--Celebi96 17:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Trivia error?

This might be me being stupid, but the trivia says "Deoxys was the first Pokémon to have its own unique battle music", but didn't Suicune in Pokémon Crystal have unique music when you battled it? I haven't played Pokémon Crystal in a while, so I might be wrong. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 18:19, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I think Suicune's music was shared with Entei and Raikou, as before this, all Pokémon had the same wild encounter theme. Deoxys was the first to have its own music, without sharing. — THE TROM — 21:22, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I know it was shared in Gold and Silver, but I think it might have been different in Crystal. I'm not 100% sure though. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 15:11, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
No, the trio all definitely had the same music in Crystal. —βetA ZerØ 07:54, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Formes between games

Just asking, if I have a Speed forme of Deoxys in Emerald, and I trade it to FireRed, will it still have his Speed forme or will it change to FireRed's forme? If the answer is the second option, shouldn't this be in the article? --Dr. James 15:48, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

The second option is true. Turtwig A Contributions Talk 15:51, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Deoxys in the Anime

Looking back, that was a pretty bad edit. Long, rambly, save for grammar, spelling, and capitalization. Still, someone should do something, it is not right as it is. The purple Deoxys did not just appear and go to Larousse city, it was in the same meteor as the green Deoxys. Rayquaza did not simply appear out of nowhere either, it had a previous battle and current motive to track down and attack the Deoxys. Worst of all, it wasn't because Emerald had not come out yet that the Speed forme had not appeared in the movie, it was because it had not been created yet. It had come out in Emerald because by that time, they had made Speed forme Deoxys and needed a third generation game to contain that data. Can someone correct this while keeping it short?--QX Deoxys 00:22, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

New picture?

I believe that we should use a different picture for Deoxys. I don't mean to nitpick, but the picture we have up right now is a tad pixilated and shows only one Forme (Defense). I've found a clearer picture that shows all four of Deoxys' formes (Speed, Attack, and Normal, as well as Defense). deoxysdppokesafari_2.jpg So, what say you? Link 486 16:26, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

There's not enough similarity to even think about mentioning it. When I commented on similarities between the Lake Trio and the GSDS prefixes on the GSDS talk page, I got shot down, hard. That had a bit more substance than this. Also, your attempt at actually writing it into trivia had multiple errors. Finally, sign when you post on talk pages. OK...sorry, i'm kinda new here, and only found this after I did that. I tried to go back and remove it, to find it was already gone. anyways, I didn't mean it was an actual forme, but you have to admit it does look like it could be. Also, whats GSDS? Megadog 06:28, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I went and removed it as soon as I saw it added... twice. My advice is simple: When in doubt, talk before adding.
GSDS was the fan name for HGSS before they were announced and got official names, apparently given by TTEchidna (talk · contribs). --ルレ 06:33, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't fully understand that connection, or in fact, at all. Also, I swear I only put it up once...The second time may have been a glitch when I tried to remove it. Also, I have only seen the two screenshots of fake groudon getting blasted by jirachi, so there may be the problem. EDIT: I've just watched the preview, and see how completely wrong I was. Moveset comparison table

Is it possible to get a comparison table up to show the differences between the movesets of each Forme? Something like what's on the Legendary golems and other pages. Just stick it below the other four moveset tables, permanently hidden so it's out of the way. ~ Serial Colour 20:37, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I have added one at form differences--Grrgrrgrr1000 22:05, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Introduction uses "form"

Should the introductory paragraph to this article really use the word "form" when it's spelled "Forme" everywhere else in the article? For consistency's sake, I'd really recommend changing it.--Phantomjunkie 07:43, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Guardian Signs

Should the event moves for Deoxys from Guardian Signs (Meteor Mash, Detect) be added?JacobCrystal 19:41, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Image

Does anyone else think We should have his default form as the main image on his page? Cause I dont think we should have defense form up as it. Thats like putting heat rotom on rotoms page as main piccy.--Dermodio 20:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

There is special coding on the page that rotates the art for Deoxys based on time. You'll see this in other Pokémon pages as well that have different forms or formes. Jellotalk 20:12, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Eve?

Deoxys deeply resembles Eve from the game MOTHER. look- eve.gif - unsigned comment from Giegue (talkcontribs)

!?!?!

Somebody removed my trivia about deoxis's name being the first part of Deoxyribonucleic acid the chemical name of dna I know that someone has that the forms spell dna (with an s) so if mine was taken out then why wasn't that one?--Ash0011 21:54, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Because it's in the Name Origin section. --P S Yライダー 21:56, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Recalculation of Deoxys' Effort Value gains in Generation 3

In the Effort Values article, I noticed a bit of information which stated that the method in which Black and White Versions of Generation V recalculates EV gains at the end of each battle was equivalent to the way that Deoxys's EV gains were calculated in Generation III, yet I'm not seeing this piece of trivia on Deoxys' own page. Shouldn't it be added to the trivia of Deoxys, then, as (apparently) Deoxys was the only Pokémon to have such a unique method of EV calculation in Generation 3? Fenyx4 04:19, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Wait.

What would happen if one got to Birth Island before getting National Dex in FRLG (since Sevii Islands are available after 7 badges, and in these games National Dex is awarded upon capturing 60 Pokémon, not beating E4). And I mean via Aurora Ticket. Marked +-+-+ 08:19, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

New event Deoxys

Shouldn't someone edit the Event box to say that the new event Deoxys will be handed out fro May 8-31? PokefanR (talk) 02:33, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

No, not yet anyway, because there isn't an official title for the event. When there is an official title for the event it will be added, otherwise the section will require editing multiple times for one event. Lady Ariel 03:19, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
