Ken (Japanese: ケン Ken) is a character who appears in the Pokémon Gotta Catch 'Em All manga. He is one of Shu's many rivals.


Shu meets Ken for the first time in Battle in the Smokescreen. Though Shu had never met Ken before, Ken knew exactly who he was and claims that Shu is very famous among Pokémon Trainers. Shu challenges Ken to a battle and eventually defeats him. As a prize for winning, Ken gives Shu a guitar which he autographed, claiming that it is a very valuable item. Unknown to Ken, Shu finds the item totally useless.

Ken is seen riding a Dragonite when he appears for the first time.

None of Dragonite's moves are known.

Ken's Koffing
Koffing is Ken's main Pokémon. He uses it in battle against Shu. Due to the teamwork of Shu's Pikachu and his newly caught Zubat, they were able to defeat Koffing.

Koffing's only known move is SmokeScreen.

Ken uses a Pidgeotto in his battle against Shu. He commanded Pidgeotto to attack from above.

Pidgeotto's only known move is Wing Attack.

Ken uses a Cubone in his battle against Shu. He commanded Cubone to attack from the sides.

Cubone's only known move is Bonemerang.
