Route 6

Route 6

Like with Vermilion City, the terrain of Route 6 has shifted slightly, leaving the route shorter than it was in the past. There are no Trainers to worry about, and a man blocks the entrance to the north/south Underground Path, informing you that the path is closed until the Power Plant is online again.

Saffron City

Saffron City

Saffron City isn't known as the largest city in Kanto for nothing. The Silph Company, which produces most forms of Poké Ball, medicine, and Technical Machine, is headquartered here. It is the only city to hold two Gyms, though only one is officially recognized. In the northwest district is the Magnet Train station, a high-speed link back to Goldenrod City.

Mr. Psychic

Stop by the house in the city's southeast district. The homeowner, Mr. Psychic, will give you TM29 (Psychic).

Silph Co

The Silph Co. is open for business, but having recently been attacked by Team Rocket, visitors are not permitted above the first floor. The security guard blocking the stairs gives you an Up-Grade, one of the company's latest products, as a souvenir.

Magnet Train Station

The Magnet Train Station is located in the city's northwest district, but the train is not currently operational due to some problem at the Power Plant. Once the electricity is restored, this high-speed bullet train will run to Goldenrod City and back; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fighting Dojo

Visit the Fighting Dojo in the north to find a Focus Band by the rear wall.

Saffron Gym

Saffron Gym

SAFFRON CITY
POKéMON GYM
LEADER: SABRINA
The Master of
Psychic Pokémon!

Unlike Vermilion Gym, Saffron Gym's puzzle is fully-functioning, so you'll need to use the warp tiles to reach the Gym Leader. The Trainers here specialize in Psychic-type Pokémon, which means that Ghost-, Dark-, and Bug-type attacks work the best. Avoid using Fighting- or Poison-type Pokémon.

Sabrina only has three Pokémon, but they can become quite a nuisance if given the chance. Mr. Mime can raise her team's defense with Reflect, Espeon can drop your accuracy with Sand-Attack, and Alakazam can recover its health. If all else fails, strike with powerful physical moves like Earthquake.

Saffron Gym
The Marsh Badge

Sabrina awards you the Marsh Badge upon her defeat. This badge only symbolizes your victory over of the Saffron Gym, and does not boost any of your party's stats.

Rest your team, and head east to Route 8.
