Klutz (Japanese: ぶきよう Clumsy) is an ability introduced in Generation IV. Seven Pokémon can have this ability.

Effect

In battle

Generation IV

Klutz prevents the use of held items. The ability disables the battle effect of the held item, rather than preventing an item from being held. Items which affect experience or effort values, such as the Lucky Egg or the Power Weight, can still be used. The speed drop from the Iron Ball is not negated by Klutz, while the Luck Incense and Amulet Coin's money-boosting effects still occur.

Generation V

Klutz now prevents the user from using Fling.

Outside of battle

Klutz has no effect outside of battle.
