J's clients are the brains behind Pokémon Hunter J's crime spree. They commission J and her ruthless cronies with the tasks of stealing Pokémon in the wild and from trainers and having her sell the stolen Pokémon to them. They first appeared when Jenny told Ash and company about J's crime spree in Mutiny in the Bounty, and they made their first actual appearance in Ill-Will Hunting.
