The '''''HeartGold & SoulSilver'' arc''' (Japanese: '''ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー編''' ''HeartGold & SoulSilver arc''), also referred to as '''''The Ninth Chapter''''' (Japanese: '''第九章''' ''The Ninth Chapter''), is the ninth story arc of the [[Pokémon Adventures]] {{pkmn|manga}}, consisting of three volumes. It began serialization in March 2010, and ended in November 2010.


The chapter features the characters {{Adv|Gold}}, {{Adv|Silver}}, and {{Adv|Crystal}}.
The arc follows {{adv|Gold}}, who gets in a battle with {{Adv|Arceus}}, as he searches for the missing [[Lance]]. Elsewhere, [[Team Rocket]] has resurfaced, which causes {{adv|Silver}} to set out and stop them once more. Meanwhile, the four {{tc|Executive|Rocket Executives}}, [[Archer]], [[Proton]], [[Petrel]], and [[Ariana]], have taken over the newly-revived Team Rocket from [[Carr]] in attempt to find their currently-missing leader, {{adv|Giovanni}}.


So far the only things known are that Gold is looking for a missing [[Lance]] and gets in a battle against an {{p|Arceus}} along with Silver and Crystal. Meanwhile, [[Carr]] is trying to resurrect Team Rocket and hold the base at the newly opened {{jo|Safari Zone}}. The four Rocket executives, [[Proton]], [[Petrel]], [[Ariana]], and [[Archer]] also appear and seem to take control from him, saying that they will "stay true to Giovanni's intentions".

There have been some party changes with the three Johto dexholders, as Silver no longer has his Ursaring but has gained a Rhyperior from {{Adv|Blue}}, Gold's [[Aipom]] has evolved into an Ambipom and Togetaro has evolved twice, first into Togetic and then into Togekiss.

Petrel reveals that [[Lance]] was taken down by the Generals in a battle. All of the Johto Gym Leaders besides [[Pryce]] have made an appearance this arc. As the arc goes on, it turns out the Four Executives (know as the 'Four Generals' in the manga) are searching for [[Arceus]] and the [[Sinjoh Ruins]]. It is also later revealed by {{Adv|Silver}} that his father [[Giovanni]] is missing alongside his Ursaring, which is why Blue gave him a Rhyperior, not only to evolve it, but to have another Pokemon on his team to make up for it.

Two of the Four Generals have differences in the manga not present in the games, such as Petrel having the ability to successfully disguise himself as any person he's met, and Ariana has appeared much chubbier in later chapters due to Kusaka not wanting her to be portrayed as a 'stereotypical female villain.' During a battle with {{Adv|Crystal}} [[Ariana]] reveals that each of the Four Generals have a different job: [[Petrel]] to seek out the Plates, [[Proton]] to find the [[Sinjoh Ruins]], herself to fend off intruders, and when she's about to talk about Archer, the man appears himself with the other two Generals before she can say.

The HeartGold & SoulSilver arc (Japanese: ハートゴールド・ソウルシルバー編 HeartGold & SoulSilver arc), also referred to as The Ninth Chapter (Japanese: 第九章 The Ninth Chapter), is the ninth story arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga, consisting of three volumes. It began serialization in March 2010, and ended in November 2010.

The arc follows Gold, who gets in a battle with Arceus, as he searches for the missing Lance. Elsewhere, Team Rocket has resurfaced, which causes Silver to set out and stop them once more. Meanwhile, the four Rocket Executives, Archer, Proton, Petrel, and Ariana, have taken over the newly-revived Team Rocket from Carr in attempt to find their currently-missing leader, Giovanni.
