(Japanese: デント Dent) is a future traveling partner of Ash Ketchum.
In the anime
He and Iris were shown in silhouette after DP183 aired July 1, 2010. The two were officially revealed during a trailer for the anime shown on Pokémon Sunday exactly one month later. He will appear as a main character in the Best Wishes series of the Pokémon anime. He finally appears in BW005 with his brothers Pod and Corn.
History
Dent first appeared in BW005 where he was shopping in Sanyou City he saw Iris's Kibago and Ash's Pikachu and was shocked out how rare they were. He invited them to his Gym. It is also a cafe where Dent, Pod and Corn are waiters there. Ash gets angry wanting to battle the Gym Leader and the three brothers introduce themselves.
They then followed Ash to the battleground where they revealed their Pokémon. Ash battle Dent's brother whilst he is the judge and is the last to battle Ash.
Character
He is a Pokémon Sommelier who can see the compatibility between a Pokémon and its Trainer. He is said to have a lot of knowledge on Pokémon. A clip shown after the Japanese premiere of DP188 showed that in the anime, he is also a Gym Leader, as he is in the games.

| Yanappu is Dent's best and only Pokémon, it made its first appearance in BW005 where he showed it to Ash who scanned it on his Pokédex, before standing next to Dent whilst he judged Ash's gym battle.
Yanappu was Ash's third and final Pokémon to face in his gym battle, Ash sent out Mijumaru. It was scared of Yanappu at first, but with some encouragement from Ash and Pikachu, it decided to battle. However, Yanappu dodged all of its attacks with ease and hit Mijumaru quite hard with Bullet Seed and Bite. After Mijumaru finally hit a midair Yanappu with Water Gun, Yanappu started charging SolarBeam, which petrified Mijumaru with fear. Yanappu's known mobes are Bullet Seed, Bite, and SolarBeam. | ||
