Release information

This card was included in the Base Set with artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. In Japan, this card was reprinted with artwork by Tsukasa Hosono, one of five winning entries of the 64 Mario Stadium Pokémon Snap Best Photo Contest held in Spring 1999. This print has a camera graphic where the expansion symbol would normally be. This print is extremely rare and only 20 copies were given to the winner. The Base Set print was reprinted in the Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection expansions.

A special reprint was included in the Stormfront expansion with redrawn art by Mitsuhiro Arita, first released in the Japanese Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky expansion. This print modified some of the card text to bring it in line with modern card wording whilst still allowing it to retain its original effects.

During the Sword & Shield Series, a Jumbo version of the Base Set print was one of three cards available in copies of the Kanto First Partner Pack, released on October 8, 2021 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. This print features a foil Pokémon 25th Anniversary logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration window.

In the Scarlet & Violet Series, this card was reprinted in Holofoil with its original Base Set artwork for the Charizard & Ho-Oh ex deck of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic. This reprint lacks a regulation mark and is thus not legal for tournament play.
