Charizard (Japanese: リザードン Lizardon, German: Glurak, French: Dracaufeu) is a Fire/Flying-type Pokémon.

Name origins

Charizard's name is a combination of the words "char" and "lizard". Lizardon on the other hand is a combination of the words lizard and don.

The appearance of Charizard resembles the western European dragon, which had many forms in the legends that described dragons. Although it is a Fire-type Pokémon, it can learn Dragon-type attacks. This Pokémon is the first of many to take on the appearance of the European dragons.
