Clash of the Connoisseurs! (Japanese: ポケモンソムリエ対決!テイスティングバトル!! Pokémon Sommelier Showdown! Tasting Battle!!) is the 80th episode of the Best Wishes series, and the 737th episode of the Pokémon anime. It first aired in Japan on May 24, 2012 and in the United States on September 22, 2012.
Synopsis
Template:Incomplete synopsis Cilan's goal is mastery as a Pokémon Connoisseur. In the midst of his travels, a confrontation between connoisseurs occurs! A girl named Marigold wants to pick out her first Pokémon, and choosing compatible Pokémon for new Trainers is one of the jobs of a Pokémon Connoisseur! Suddenly, an A-Class Connoisseur named Ricard Nouveau arrives, causing a dispute between him and Cilan on choosing the right Pokémon for Marigold. A battle takes place in order to choose what Pokémon will be Merigold's partner. A conflict occurs between Richard's Purrloin and Cilan's Crustle.

- In the dub, after Burgundy is sent flying by Cilan's Crustle's Rock Wrecker, Ash remarks that he "could've sworn he heard that before," possibly referencing how Team Rocket was sent blasting off in nearly every episode prior to the Best Wishes series.
