Aegis Cave (Japanese: ばんにんのどうくつ Watchman's Cave) is a Dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. It is segmented into 4 sections, each home to one of the Legendary Golems.
The player's team first enters the cave with Team Charm. There are countless Unown in the dungeon, and defeating them will occasionally yield the player a stone shaped like the Unown they defeated. To progress further in the dungeon, I, C, and E stones must be collected, where they open up the room where Regice waits. In the second chamber, the stones R, O, C, and K must be collected to open the room where Regirock awaits. In the third chamber, the S, T, E, E, and L stones must be collected to gain access to Registeel's room. After progressing through the Deep Aegis Cave, the player's team and Team Charm have to battle with Regigigas and a group of 4 Hitmonlee and 4 Bronzong.
The stones dropped by the Unown have no practical use outside Aegis Cave. They cause 60 points of damage (90 in Sky) if thrown at a Pokémon and can be sold for 10 Poké. Also, no Wonder Orbs (except for Escape Orbs) or Poké can be found in the dungeon.
Unlike most other dungeons, the cave's rooms have no exits. A player attempting to leave through the south will encounter an invisible wall, and be unable to pass. The only way to leave the cave is to complete it, or use an Escape Orb.
