Trivia
- This is one of the rare times that an item gets scanned in the Pokédex. Normally, Pokémon get mentioned in the Pokédex. Other cases this has happened was with the Poké Flute in Wake Up Snorlax! to wake up a Snorlax and the Salveyo weed in The Stun Spore Detour to help Ash and Tracey recover from a Vileplume's Stun Spore.
- This is the first episode of Todd Snap's second appearance.
- It is the first and to date the only episode in which Ash uses an evolutionary stone to make a Pokémon evolve (wild Sunkern → Sunflora). What is more, this is the first episode when an item belonging to Ash was used to evolve a Pokémon, although in this regard the episode is not unique.
- Both this episode and EP185 share their names with Discworld books, in this case Moving Pictures. The dub episode's title is also the name of an album by the band Rush.
Errors
- In the dub, the Pokédex says that the Sun Stone is used to evolve Gloom into Vileplume, while in the games the Sun Stone evolves Gloom into Bellossom. The Leaf Stone is the item that will evolve Gloom into Vileplume.
- After seeing Articuno's picture in the Pokédex, Ash says that he wishes it were real, and not a legend. Ash should already know that Articuno is a real Pokémon, as he encountered one in the second movie. However, since the movies are of questionable canon, this may not be considered a true error.
Dub edits
- Todd Snap was named as Todd again due to legal issues 4Kids didn't want with Kellogg's.
- While Ash, Misty and Snap think about how long Sophia's story will be, Brock wonders about if she has any string cheese. The reason for this bit of random humor is currently unknown.
