Section of Cerulean from Fire Red and Leaf Green

Cerulean City (Japanese: ハナダシティ Hanada City) is a city in Kanto, located north of Saffron City, south of Sea Cottage, east of Mt. Moon, and southwest of Rock Tunnel. Situated near a sea inlet to the north, it contains a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, a Bike Shop (moved to Goldenrod City in Generation II, and the elaborate Cerulean Gym.

Pokémon Trainers often come to Cerulean City in order to win the Cascadebadge from Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader who specializes in Water-type Pokémon.

In Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, there is a man in a cottage who will exchange Berry Powder for rare and valuable items.

Cerulean City's motto is: "A Mysterious, Blue Aura Surrounds It."

There are four roads out or in of Cerulean City. West of Cerulean is Route 4, and further on, Mt. Moon. North is Route 24 and the Nugget Bridge. East is Route 9. South is Route 5, where there's a Pokémon Daycare.

On the outskirts of Cerulean City lies Cerulean Cave, also known as the Unknown Dungeon. This is where you find Mewtwo at level 70 in the Generation I games; in Generation II, the Dungeon has been sealed off.

Wild Pokémon can be found in Cerulean City's Gym, in the water.
