It evolves from Froakie staring at level 16 and evolves into Greninja starting at level 36.

Gekogashira may be a combination of げこっ geko (croak) and 若頭 wakagashira (a young Yakuza subordinate leader) or 小頭 kogashira (head of an organizational section).
