May's wishmaker

The wishmaker is an item purchased by May during the Millennium Festival in Jirachi: Wish Maker.

Purpose

The wishmaker is an object similar to a dreamcatcher. It has seven points in the circle that point outward. The points have stars on them, with one star on the first point, and so on until seven stars on the seventh point. The user of the wishmaker makes a wish and folds down the point corresponding to the number of days the Millennium Comet has been visible in the sky. The user then repeats this process, making the same wish each night of the comet until they've folded all seven points of the wishmaker. If the user has successfully folded all seven points within the time frame that the Millennium Comet is visible, then their wish will come true; if they fail to do so, then their wish will not be granted.

Trivia

  • May is also the only known character to own such an object.
  • A similar use of commercialism was used on the Lunar Wing in The Rise of Darkrai, where Dawn purchased one, making her the second main character to believe in an item's power.
