Our first steps into Rocky Ridges
Completing these missions should be enough to raise your Trainer Rank to Great, meaning that you can now visit two more areas. You can take these on in either order, but for this walkthrough we'll visit Rocky Ridges first. You can find this area by going through the large gate near where we found Onix.
Once through the gate Professor Tangrowth will join you. He will tell you a little about the area and ask you to meet him at the Pokémon Center. You can explore a little first, or you can head straight down the stairs to meet him. On your way down make sure you pick up two sandbags and place them near four patches of watered grass for the Grassy Training Field habitat. We'll need this later. When you're ready, speak to Professor Tangrowth by the PC in order to make progress.
The broken PC
When you speak to him, he will ask you to use the PC. Press A to interact with it, but it won't respond. He tells you that you need to move the PC over to the electrical source. Try to move it even though we all know you aren't strong enough to. Professor Tangrowth then says he needs to think about the problem for a while, so go explore the area while you wait.
In particular, it is worth checking out the vegetable garden up the hill straight in front of you. It's a little worse for wear, but it's important that we get some things working so that we have wheat later. Use Rock Smash to break any blocks that are preventing the water from flowing freely around the vegetable garden, then water any dry vegetable patches and harvest what you can.
Machoke to the rescue
By this time Professor Tangrowth has probably come up with an idea on how to fix the PC, so you can return to the Pokémon Center to hear what he has to say. His idea is for you to learn Strength from Machoke, however, he doesn't know what type of habitat they live in.
They live in the Grassy Training Field habitat that we made earlier, but you can experiment with other habitats as well to find Pokémon to help boost up your team. In particular, creating four patches of watered red grass to make the Red Tall Grass habitat, which will likely net you a Scorbunny. This will also be useful to us later on.
Machoke muscle training
Machoke should be ready at his habitat, so speak to them to add them to the Pokédex. They will then ask you to meet them in a more open area. Follow them up the stairs to the plateau that is covered in volcanic ash. Here they will complain to you about the mess. They then ask you to pick up five stones which you can easily do by holding Y to vacuum them all up. However, it is probably a good time to completely clear the plateau of ash now, as we will need it to be clear later. Use Rock Smash to break it all down.
After you have sucked up the stones, talk to Machoke again to complete this request. They will then show you Strength, which you will learn via Transform. This will allow you to push large objects around and does not consume PP when used.
Turning on the PC
Before they let you go, they want you to prove yourself to them. To do this you will need to use Strength on the lone boulder near the entrance to the area and push it to where the two boulders near the scaffolding are. Hold A when you are next to the boulder you want to push to automatically grab on and you will be ready to start pushing. When Machoke is satisfied you will see a speech bubble appear over their head. Speak to them again to finish this request. We are now ready to push the PC.
Return to Professor Tangrowth and push the PC over the electric patch in front of the ruined Pokémon Center. Turn on the PC and check out the list of new challenges. Professor Tangrowth will then speak to you starting the next Important Request, Rebuild The Pokémon Center.
