Building the Pokémon Center
Before we leave the area for a while we want to set things in motion. Firstly, we need to rebuild the Pokémon Center. You should be at Environment Level 3 by now which means you can purchase the kit from the PC. You then need to put 10 twine, 30 brick, 10 sea glass fragments, and five iron ore into the box. For your workers you need eight Pokémon including one with the water, build, and bulldoze skills.
The easiest water Pokémon to grab is Azurill. These live in the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat, which consists of four patches of grass at the water's edge. For the bulldoze skill, Makuhita is an easy recruit. They live in the Tree-shaded Tall Yellow Grass habitat, which is four patches of grass beneath a tree. Finally, Farfetch'd is an easy 'mon to grab with the build skill. They live in the All Packed Up habitat. This consists of a cart and two sets of cardboard boxes. You can find everything you need for this near Meowth's shack.
Once you have donated all of the necessary materials, and have all of the Pokémon you need, ask them to follow you. You can then assign them to work on the Pokémon Center and start building. They will need to build it overnight, so it might be a good idea to do this as the last thing before you log off for the day.
Spit up and swallow
Before we go, we want to learn our next skill. Speak to Piplup and they will tell you that they want a waterfall flowing into one of the nearby ponds. They tell you to go up to the top of the hill and spit water off the side but you say that it wouldn't do much. Piplup then tells you to create the Marshy Tall Grass habitat, which consists of four grass patches surrounding the pond of muddy water.
Paldean Wooper will appear and before they will teach you the new skill they want three tomatoes. We collected some earlier so you should be able to hand them straight over. They will then teach you how to suck up and hold in water. While standing in water hold Y like you are sucking in, then tap ZR to hold the water. You can then hold it in for as long as you like and drop it off somewhere else. This is a really useful skill for getting waterwheels flowing, or for making things like hot spring habitats.
Becoming part of the team
Our last task for this section of the game is to hand over our vegetables as part of the important request for the Team Initiation Challenge. It's been a while but it's finally time to "earn" our second "gym badge". This is why we needed to make sure we farmed so many vegetables earlier.
Return to Withered Wasteland with 10 wheat, 10 beans, and 10 tomatoes. Hand them in at the lighthouse on the beach and you'll be rewarded with the Cascade-like Badge. This will complete the beginner tier of the Team Initiation Challenges. Next, they want burnables: lumber, fluff and paper.
